Sydney Underworld Rocked as Five-Person Shooting Leaves One Dead in Canley Heights

Canley Heights, Sydney – The quiet suburban streets of Sydney’s south-west were shattered last night as a brutal five-person shooting left one man dead and four others seriously injured in what police suspect is the latest spasm of underworld violence. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Alai Ahio.

Ahio, reportedly a former associate of the Sydney rap group OneFour, succumbed to his injuries in hospital after he and four other men were ambushed in the garage of a Canley Heights home. Police sources are quick to clarify that there is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the men at the residence or by members of the rap group.

Emergency services swarmed the scene after multiple Triple Zero calls reported gunshots just before 8:20 PM. Within minutes, two men, including Ahio and a 32-year-old, arrived at Liverpool Hospital with severe wounds. Despite frantic efforts, Ahio’s life could not be saved. The 32-year-old remains in critical condition with a neck injury.

The bloodshed didn’t end there. Approximately ten minutes later, two more victims, aged 23 and 22, presented themselves at Fairfield Hospital, both in serious condition. They have since been transferred for ongoing treatment, with the 23-year-old nursing a gunshot wound to the neck and the 22-year-old suffering a shoulder injury.

A fifth man, 19, surfaced at Liverpool Hospital over an hour later, sustaining an arm injury but now in stable condition.

Detective Superintendent Craig Middleton revealed early police findings suggest two assailants stormed the Canley Vale home, unleashing a barrage of gunfire before fleeing in what is believed to be a white SUV. All five victims were known to each other.

Investigators are probing potential ties to the city’s burgeoning criminal underworld, specifically the enigmatic “coconut cartel,” though concrete links are yet to be established. Two vehicles used to transport the first four victims to hospital were located at a Saint Johns Park address, now a secondary crime scene.

Middleton described the attack as “very brazen, violent” and assured the public that preventative measures are being deployed to avert further retaliatory violence in the coming days. The motive remains shrouded in mystery as the Homicide Squad, aided by Fairfield City Police Area Command, works tirelessly to piece together the grim events.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The streets hold their breath, waiting for the next move in Sydney’s ruthless underground game.
