Canberra Woman Charged After Attempt to Print Child Abuse Material Foiled by Machine Malfunction
A Canberra photo printing business became the unlikely stage for a disturbing discovery this week, as a 36-year-old NSW woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to print child abuse material. The sinister act was reportedly thwarted not by immediate human intervention, but by a printer malfunction.
Authorities confirmed the woman, hailing from Wamboin in the NSW Southern Tablelands, brought the illicit images to a Belconnen store on Wednesday afternoon. Her attempt to process the material failed due to a technical glitch, leading to a refund and her departure, unaware of the horror she left behind.
It was only later that diligent staff, reviewing the failed print jobs, allegedly uncovered multiple child exploitation images. They acted swiftly, contacting ACT Policing, whose subsequent investigation led to the woman’s arrest on Friday afternoon in Holt.
She is now slated to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this Saturday, facing charges of aggravated possession of child exploitation material. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the insidious nature of such crimes and the critical role vigilant citizens and businesses play in bringing perpetrators to justice. Investigations into the matter remain active.
